Christopher Jobe, MD, RMSK.
Christopher Jobe, MD, is the former chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Loma Linda University, past president of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, and author of many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
It was during Dr. Jobe’s residency at Duke University that arthroscopy first became widely used. He became fascinated how the arthroscope increased diagnostic accuracy and treatment options with joints. This prompted him to do a sports medicine fellowship. As a corresponding member in the German Shoulder and Elbow Society, he met the first surgeons who explored the use of Ultrasound. Highly intrigued by this new tool that, like arthroscopy, increased diagnostic accuracy, Dr. Jobe became a champion of the use of ultrasound by the orthopaedic surgeon. For the past 14 years Dr. Jobe has used ultrasound daily in his practice, both academic and private, and he hopes to share this powerful tool with his colleagues.
Dean W. Ziegler, MD
Dr. Ziegler was originally exposed to the efficacy of Dynamic Diagnostic Ultrasound as the ACE on the University of Washington Shoulder and Elbow service in 1994-95. Soon after starting his Orthopaedic practice, he realized that Ultrasound would be the perfect modality to integrate into his clinic. He immersed himself in the technique and for over 25 years has exclusively used ultrasound as his advanced imaging modality for the evaluation and management of Rotator Cuff disorders. He presented and published on the use of in-office ultrasound in a large series of rotator cuff tears, advancing the use of dynamic as well as functional sonography. He has been on the faculty for courses focusing on Shoulder; Elbow, Wrist and Hand; Hip; Knee; and Foot and Ankle Diagnostic and Interventional Ultrasound. While he has seen the use of Ultrasound grow substantially in non-operative Musculoskeletal physicians, he hopes to help advance its utilization by his Orthopaedic Surgical colleagues.
Dr Ziegler is a partner at Blount Orthopaedic Associates, Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and on faculty for the Milwaukee Combined Upper Extremity Fellowship.
